Seachtain na Gaeilge
What an absolutely thrilling week we had at Annagh NS for Seachtain na Gaeilge. The excitement kicked off with our spectacular Lá Glas, where students rocked their vibrant green and Irish-themed outfits. The atmosphere was fantastic as they played polkas, jigs and barn-dances, sang the famous “Killeagh” (as Gaeilge, of course), and showcased their step dancing and set dancing skills for our video recording – which can be seen below.
Our Lá Gaelach was a hit, filled with laughter and fun as the children played Biongó. The winners bagged some delicious treats. During our Tráth na gCeist, the competition was close, with the top-performing team narrowly celebrating their impressive scores with sweet rewards.
Pupils also illustrated their interpretations of well-known Sean fhocail. It was a week that truly celebrated everything Irish, and we couldn’t have done it without our fantastic Gaeilgeoirí na Seachtaine, who impressed us with their exceptional use of Gaeilge throughout the week.
To cap it all off, our pupils were treated to a delightful dessert of green and orange jelly topped with creamy white ice cream – an absolute favourite that left smiles all around. What a fantastic week of culture!

An Unforgettable Santa Visit and Hot Chocolate Café
What an incredible day we had last Thursday, just before our break. It was magical when a special flight straight from the North Pole delivered Santa Claus to our school, overflowing with gifts for every single pupil. The joy on the children’s faces as they received their presents and posed for photos with Santa was simply heart warming. We even sent him off to his next stop with a lively medley of Christmas carols.
The fun continued when Mrs. McMahon opened her Christmas Café. Everyone indulged in delicious hot chocolate and cookies, adding to the day’s merriment.
Don’t miss out on the excitement—check out our slideshow to relive the magic.
Christmas Concert 2025
On Friday, December 12th, we were treated to an absolutely thrilling showcase of talent at our bi-annual Christmas Concert at Annagh NS. The first concert kicked off with the Junior and Senior Infants, under the guidance of Mr Kelly, dazzling us with their lively performance of “Whoops a Daisy Angel.”
Next up, Mrs Flanagan’s First and Second class took the stage, bringing the house down with their charming rendition of “The Bee Musical.”
Then, the excitement ramped up as Ms Doyle’s Third and Fourth class brought plenty of glitz and glamour with their stunning performance of “Cinderella Rockerfella.” The energy was electric.
Finally, the curtain closed with a bang as Mrs O’Dea’s Fifth and Sixth class captivated us all with their powerful interpretation of the classic Dickens tale “Bah Humbug.”
Our talented pupils didn’t stop there—they also showcased their incredible instrumental music skills and wrapped up the concert with festive Christmas songs that had everyone singing along. Be sure to view our slideshow below to relive the magic of the evening. Also, check out our website’s Media Tab>Video Gallery to watch short clips of the performances.
It’s important to recognise that these moments wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of many wonderful individuals. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. McMahon for her exceptional work as our Floor Manager, ensuring everything ran like clockwork.
A big shout-out to Nessa, Margaret, and Anne for their invaluable expertise in costumes and set design. We’re also grateful to Anne Sexton, our diligent caretaker, for making the school shine and to Jerome Brooks for his flexibility and willingness to help. We were fortunate to have some past pupils Ellen, Síofra, Aoibhnait, Luisne and Amelia whose help was invaluable on the day.
Let’s not forget Davina Daly and her amazing team from the Annagh Pals Before/After School facility who went above and beyond to make our tasks easier. We truly appreciate the collaboration and support of everyone involved.
Halloween Spectacular
Friday, October 23rd, was an electrifying day of spine-tingling excitement as Halloween descended upon our school!
The air was thick with thrills and chills as ghouls, goblins, and all manner of spooky creatures wandered around, transforming Annagh NS into a haunted haven. Even the teachers joined in the frightful fun, donning refreshing minty Tic Tac costumes, adding a twist of flavour to the eerie atmosphere. Mr Kelly’s class embarked on a trick-or-treating expedition around Snape’s and Brooks’ houses, where they struck gold with a treasure trove of goodies. The day was a whirlwind of hauntingly fun games, ghostly art projects, delicious chocolate apples, and spine-chilling movies that left us on the edge of our seats.
A massive shoutout to everyone who conjured up this magical Halloween experience for our students—it was a day to remember.

Branar Theatre Visit
Today was nothing short of exhilarating as we welcomed a dynamic new team of cleaners who brought a twist to the traditional notion of “cleaning”. The adventure kicked off in the 3rd and 4th classroom and then continued in the 5th and 6th classroom, transforming what could have been a mundane routine into an electrifying experience.
Amidst the starting bursts of laughter and joyful chaos, a spectacular drama unfolded—”Ballad of a Bandit”. The children were completely captivated, their delighted shrieks and roars of laughter echoing through the school, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of fun and excitement.
A massive thank you to Miguel and Debbie from Branar Theatre Company for their brilliant performance today. It certainly left a lasting impression on our pupils. Here are some fantastic photos captured by Ms Doyle that perfectly showcase the joy of the day.

Clare Footballers Visit
This week was nothing short of spectacular at our school! We rolled out the red carpet for some extraordinary guests—our very own past pupils and Clare County Football stars, Dermot Coughlan and Daniel Walsh! The atmosphere was electric as they walked through the doors, greeted by an eruption of cheers and applause from our excited pupils. Not only did they take the time to sign jerseys, but they also showcased their incredible skills, leaving everyone in awe! It was a memorable experience that sparked inspiration and joy in our school community!
