Sports
At Annagh N.S., our pupils participate in various sports, including Gaelic Football, Soccer, Swimming, Cross Country and Basketball. Engaging in various sports plays a crucial role in the holistic development of each child, fostering not only their physical wellbeing but also their personal growth and development. These activities encourage children to embrace vibrant, active lifestyles, contributing to their overall health and wellness. The focus is strongly on participation, cultivating a sense of enjoyment and camaraderie, whether they are involved in individual pursuits or team-based challenges. As children explore different sports, they develop positive attitudes towards physical activity, learning valuable life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and discipline, all while having fun and building lasting memories.

A Massive Congratulations to Our Champions
Four of our pupils—Oran, Seán, Daithí Óg, and Dara—received their U13B county medals at a presentation which took place in Quilty last Sunday night. To make the evening even more special, two of our amazing past pupils and county players, Dermot and Daniel, were there to present these beautiful, eye-catching medals.
Well done, lads. Your hard work, dedication, and teamwork have truly paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of you.

Soccer Training
For the past six weeks, the boys and girls from 3rd to 6th class have been training alongside Clare’s FAI Football Development Officer, Denis Hynes. They dived headfirst into skills and drills. The astroturf pitch was filled with laughter, teamwork, and unforgettable moments. A massive shout out to Denis for his dedication and to our amazing young athletes for their resilience and passion. We were also thrilled to see our past pupils Rhys, Daithí, and Kiljan were part of the team. It’s clear that the future of football is shining bright in Kilmurry I Brickane.

Volleyball
We’re thrilled to announce a fantastic new addition to our sports equipment — a volleyball net. When our newly elected Junior Leadership Team (JLT) took office in September, one of their brilliant suggestions was to introduce the sport to our school. Thanks to Ms. Doyle, who championed the idea, we now have a stunning volleyball net ready for action.
Mr. Kelly, who helped set up the net, taught everyone the ins and outs of volleyball. The response from our students has been nothing short of electric.
As the winter months approach, the net will be taken indoors for a while. Everyone is already buzzing with anticipation to bring the net back to life in the spring.
Check out these fantastic photos of our 3rd and 4th class having an absolute blast in the astroturf.

Cross Country
This year, our eager athletes represented Annagh N.S. with pride at the West Clare Cross Country Championships, held at Knock, Kilrush, on September 23rd. The ground was alive with cheers as our talented runners soared to success, with some shining bright enough to qualify for the finals at Lees Road on November 20th. Congratulations to all who participated on the day.

Celebrating Our Champions: County Winners U/12

Hurling in Annagh NS
At Annagh NS, we’re thrilled to announce that our pupils have been lucky enough to have the incredible Mr. Foudy join our staff temporarily. As the legendary Clare Team Goalkeeper, he’s igniting passion and skill in our budding young hurlers. His expert advice and inspiring presence are transforming our students into true champions of the game. The excitement of the weekly training sessions is electric.

Our Golfing Champion
Exciting news from Annagh NS
We are thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievement of our very own golfing superstar, Oran. He recently clinched victory in the Boys Under 11 All-Ireland Golf Championship held at the prestigious Carton House in Co. Kildare. Just look at that stunning trophy he proudly brought home. Oran’s dedication and skill have truly placed him in the spotlight, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Let’s cheer him on as he continues to shine on the golf course.

Football and Soccer
Our local GAA Club, Kilmurry IBrickane, provides a coach to help develop our pupils’ Gaelic football skills. Aaron Ryan visits our school each Wednesday morning to conduct skills sessions with all our pupils. It is a welcome and popular addition to our school timetable.
Each year, both our girls’ and boys’ teams participate in the Primary Schools Skills competition, the 7-a-side and 15-a-side Cumann na mBunscoil football competitions, as well as the SFAI 5-a-side soccer competition.
We are very grateful to have received a set of jerseys, shorts and socks sponsored by the Ennistymon Credit Union and presented to the school by Noelle Darcy. The gear can be seen in the photographs, worn by our boys and girls at the recent FAI 5-a-side soccer tournament.
